Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics has announced its comeback in the beauty world via a promo video on Instagram letting everyone know ‘the future is bright’.
There aren’t any details yet on what exactly will be in the collection, but it’s no secret that the quality of products is of prime importance.
In a statement posted to the brand’s Instagram in August, there seems to be more emphasis on making consumers happy: “It is clear that our first launch did not meet the standards we’ve set as a brand, and for that we are truly sorry. We will do better because you deserve better – from us and from our products.”
If you aren’t aware of the line of fire the brand has been through, here’s what you need to know. In May of this year, the brand started the production of its lipstick collection, which was met with complaints from customers who claimed to have received mouldy lipsticks with unidentified black spots and white hairs.
The claims were fervently denied by Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics in a statement they released shortly after.
“We want to provide assurances to customers who may have heard that our products are old, or contain mold — this is false,” read their statement.
“Our launch collection was manufactured in May 2019. The preservative system, material composition of the formula, and processing temperature of our lipstick does not support microbial growth and protects the product through the expiration date of May 2021.”
Since this all went down, Jaclyn has admitted her lack of control with her products stopped production of her lipstick line and had refunded customers their money back.
The brand owner voiced her thoughts in a YouTube video following the fallout, saying: “My first launch was a fail. It sucked. I did not have a quality-control team big enough to handle what I was doing, and it’s important that you guys know how sorry and embarrassed I am.”
