BBC newsreader Jane Hill returns to TV after six months battling breast cancer


BBC newsreader Jane Hill has revealed she was off air for six months to battle breast cancer.

The 49-year-old was back presenting the BBC1 lunchtime news yesterday — the first time since November.

Taking to Twitter, she joked that her pass had been cancelled while away and she could not get in the building.

She praised the NHS staff who cared for her and thanked people for their support — saying she was “overwhelmed” by the “lovely” messages she had received.

Actor Sanjeev Bhaskar wrote: “You haven’t missed much, nothing’s changed.”

And author Emma Kennedy said: “Oh Jane! I had no idea. I’m so sorry. But very glad you’re on the mend.”

Jane has presented the lunchtime bulletin since 2003.
