Bastian Schweinsteiger has sent a good luck message to his former Manchester United team-mates ahead of tonight’s Europa League final against Villarreal.

The German spent two years at Old Trafford between 2015 and 2017, before joining MLS side Chicago Fire to see out his career.

The German won the FA Cup at the Theatre of Dreams but he was ostracised by Jose Mourinho before United lifted the Carabao Cup and Europa League in his second season at the club.

Nevertheless, Schweinsteiger still holds his former club close to his heart and he’s wished the Red Devils the best of luck before tonight’s game in Poland.

‘Dear Manchester United and fans, today is a good day to win the Europa League again,’ said Schweinsteiger.

‘I’ll keep my fingers crossed and wish you all the best’.

Solskjaer has a number of selection dilemmas before tonight’s game in Gdansk.

The Norwegian must choose between David De Gea and Dean Henderson to start in goal, with Solskjaer said to be minded to start the Spaniard over the England international.

In defence, Harry Maguire looks set to miss out and will be replaced by either Eric Bailly or Axel Tuanzebe.

Fred and Scott McTominay are likely to start together in central midfield, meaning one of Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford or Paul Pogba will be benched as Bruno Fernandes and Edinson Cavani are certainties to start in attack.
