Barcelona spokesman confirms club interested in Philippe Coutinho transfer

A Barcelona spokesman has confirmed Bayern Munich are amongst the clubs interested in making a move for Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazilian was linked with a Premier League move which failed to materialise before the deadline for a move to England slammed shut.

But he could still move elsewhere in Europe before September 2 with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain amongst those linked with handing him a Barcelona exit.

The Brazilian could still be kept at the Nou Camp but he’s been tipped to be involved in a deal to take Neymar back to La Liga.

Yet a move to Germany could still be on the cards as Bayern ponder an effort to land the playmaker.

Bayern Munich are amongst those interested in Philippe Coutinho

“There is interest from FC Bayern, but there is no agreement. That is all there is to say at the moment,” a Barcelona spokesman told Goal .

Coutinho helped Brazil win the Copa America over the summer but remains linked with an exit having struggled to replicate his form in Barcelona colours.

Bayern Munich are keen for playmakers after the departures of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, whilst they declined to take up their option to keep Real Madrid star James Rodriguez.

Coutinho impressed for Brazil in the Copa America this summer

Barcelona manage Ernesto Valverde admitted last week he is unsure what the future holds for Coutinho.

“We do not know what will happen, but Philippe is a player who is with us,” he said after Barca’s 2-1 friendly win over Napoli last Wednesday.

“He has not played but the plan we have with him is the same. We’ll see if he plays a few minutes on Saturday.

“But he is a player who is with us and we have him, of course. He is with us and we think he will continue with us.”
