Barcelona boss hints at Arturo Vidal transfer amid Man Utd link

Ernesto Valverde has admitted that Arturo Vidal could leave Barcelona next month.

It has been reported that Vidal is a target for Manchester United next month as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to add depth to his struggling midfield.

Vidal is said to be frustrated with the lack of playing time on offer at Barcelona this season, having only featured nine times this season.

The arrival of Frenkie De Jong in the summer has sparked changes in the Nou Camp midfield this season and Vidal is among those struggling for game time.

Reports claim that United have contacted Vidal’s agent Fernando Felicevich, with a £13million move touted.

Barca boss Valverde has left the door open to business being done, as he was quizzed on the midfielder ahead of this weekend’s La Liga clash with Mallorca.

Valverde said: “Vidal is our player. We are happy with him. There are so many rumours. We will see tomorrow if he plays or not.

“And when the January transfer window arrives, we will see what happens.

“There’s a lot of things going on in January but it’s true that we have a lot of midfielders.

“Some have played more than others but all of them are needed.”

Ivan Rakitic is another Barcelona star who could be on the move this summer.

The Croatian midfielder has made just two starts all season and the 32-year-old is now a reported target for Sevilla and Inter Milan.

“He’s a reliable player in a lot of ways,” Valverde said.
