TWO bands whop use violent lyrics discussing killing Tories are set to play at Glastonbury this year.
Killdren and Fat White Family are set to perform at the popular music festival this summer.
But campaigners have hit out at the decision to host them in the light of the murder of Jo Cox MP, just three years ago.
Punk rock band Killdren’s song Kill Tory scum’s songs feature Theresa May being assassinated and Tory voters being killed.
Some lyrics included: “Even if it’s your dad or your mum, kill Tory scum, kill Tory scum.”
YouTube marks the videos online as “inappropriate for some users”.
At the end the band adds a disclaimer on the video saying: “Killdren do not condone the killing of MPs or voters.”
Of Kill Tory Scum, the band said said: “The piece would not exist if the destructive and violent policies of the Tory party hadn’t taken such a devastating toll on the UK.”
They are set to perform the festival on Friday 28 June, but the band has said in the past its songs are satirical.
Another band, Fat White Family, have said Tories have “blood on their hands” and said: “execute the f***king lot of them.”
They’ve mocked Boris Johnson in the past too.
They played the festival in 2015 too, and are set to perform again on Sunday 30 June.
Fat White Family said: “It’s hard to say what’s serious and what’s not.”
But the Jo Cox Foundation said their language was “completely abhorrent” and questioned the decision.
She told the BBC: “The direct incitement of violence and abuse, on any platform and in any sector, is wrong and something that we absolutely reject.
She went on: “We’re seeing a legitimising and normalising of harmful words and actions, and this is leading to a decay in our shared language and ultimately our values, and that concerns us very much.
“We cannot but think of what happened to Jo, after whose murder we believed things would improve; instead, things have got a lot worse.”
Glastonbury has been approached for comment.
