Baldur’s Gate 3 will be out on Steam early access this year, as well as Dungeons & Dragons action game Dark Alliance.

Given its initial cancellation over a decade ago, it’s safe to say that fans were more than happy when Baldur’s Gate 3 rose back from the dead and was confirmed to be in development last year.

At the time, we had no release date but now it’s been confirmed by Hasbro during an investor event, and then reported by DSOGaming, that the aim is to have Baldur’s Gate 3 available on Steam early access later this year.

The game is set to released on Stadia as well – in fact, it was on a Stadia livestream that it was first announced – but there’s no suggestion at the moment that Stadia will support early access.

Although it does seem a little odd that what’s presumed to be a primarily single-player role-playing game would need to go into early access at all.

At the very least, we’ll soon get to see some actual gameplay, as developer Larian Studios will be at PAX East and have confirmed that the footage will be made public on 27 February.

It may seem a bit odd for Hasbro, of all companies, to be announcing this rather than Larian Studios, but the Baldur’s Gate games are licensed Dungeons & Dragons products, the tabletop game from Wizards of the Coast, which Hasbro is the parent company of.

Hasbro also announced that the Dungeons & Dragons action game Dark Alliance will come to Steam early access this year and reconfirmed that it has plans for seven or eight Dungeons & Dragons games in total, with the idea being to release at least one new one every year until 2025.

Baldur’s Gate 3 will be made available for PC and Stadia.
