GREAT British Bake Off fans were left shocked when Paul Hollywood shared a photo of himself from the ’80s looking like Tom Cruise.

The celebrity chef, 54, took to Instagram to post a throwback snap of himself to mark this weeks theme – and some fans mistook him for the award-winning American actor, 58, instead.

Viewers of the show couldn't get over how different Paul looked nearly 40 years ago

Fans flocked to the comment section to see if they were the only one who could see the comparison between him and the Mission Impossible star.

Dishy Paul returned to our screens for the eleventh series of the Great British Bake Off on Tuesday 22 September.

Prue Leith has joined the star as the second judge and Noel Fielding has returned to our screens alongside newbie Matt Lucas to co-host the show.

Despite only being on airing once a week every Tuesday, the programme has racked up a number of complaints this series – including some about Paul.

The popular Channel 4 show was hit by Ofcom complaints early last month when the judge said rainbow bagels represented the NHS instead of LGBTQ+ community.

The master baker’s comments made 70 viewers feel so upset that they complained to broadcast regulator Ofcom.

The bakers were asked to make multi-coloured bagels for their technical challenge and co-judge Preu asked why they had to be so colourful.

He replied: “I think bagels are a great challenge when you’re making bread, you’ve got to boil them which is unusual and then bake them as well.

“I think the rainbow colours for me, although it originated over in the States, I think it represents the NHS.”

A week later he was involved with another part of the show that racked up more complaints from furious viewers.

During the opening of the 4th episode, Noel and Matt poked fun at the “Hollywood Handshake” by using two small prosthetic hands.

16 viewers decided to complain to the telly regulator as it was insensitive to people with Poland Syndrome – a rare developmental disorder in which those affected are born with missing or underdeveloped muscles on one side of the body.

Last week Mark Lutton, a project manager from Liverpool, was the 6th person to be eliminated from the baking competition.

The contestants still in with a chance of the winning title of The Great British Bake Off 2020 are Dave Friday, Hermine, Laura Adlington, Lottie Bedlow, Marc Elliott and Peter Sawkins.
