‘Bad’ mum-of-two reveals she’s been slammed for having tattoos, piercings and ABS as she vows not to let the trolls win

A MUM has been applauded for her honest and candid response to people who have called her a ‘bad mum’, simply for having tattoos and choosing to remain fit.

After a short hiatus from blogging, the mum-of-two decided to return to social media when she became pregnant with her first child, as a way to share and track her pregnancy and fitness journey.

But with so many varying opinions about what mothers should and shouldn’t do, Sia Cooper – whose online platform is Diary of a Fit Mommy Official –  opened herself up to judgement from other internet parents who claimed her lifestyle choices weren’t suitable as a mum.

Feeling the need to shut done mum-shaming once and for all, Sia took to her 1.1 million Instagram followers with an honest and raw post detailing the scrutiny she’d succumbed to.

She started the “powerful” post, by saying:  “If I had a nickel for every time I’ve been called a “bad mom,” I would be soooo rich! It seems almost impossible to be a textbook or politically correct good mom these days because everywhere you turn another mom is judging your parenting choices. Am I right?”

Sia proceeded to list all the reasons she’s been labelled a bad parent, which included working out during pregnancy, having tattoos and piercings, not “covering up” around her kids and for simply taking time for  herself.

Continuing to defend herself, Sia said: “I’ve learned that the true “bad moms” out there are the ones who constantly tear other moms down by judging them. Those moms are the ones who are truly insecure and have strong feelings of inadequacy because why else would they do that? Misery loves company.

“There’s no one right way to parent or to be a mom. We all are running in the same race and doing the best that we can. Motherhood is not a one size fits all-what works for one family may not work for the next. So who are we to judge another moms choices or reasoning?”

She concluding by saying: “Being a mom is hard enough and if all the following make me a “bad mom” then I’ll gladly wear it proudly! Here’s to all the bad moms out there.”

Despite her public profile being the at the centre of online trolling, it seemed her response resonated with many parents, as the post has since racked up nearly 26,000 likes.

Many mums and, even non-parents, have praised her for hitting back at haters and not feeling pressured to adhere to such made up “mum standards”.

One person said: “This is amazing! you’re my hero for posting this! As a heavily tattooed, divorced and single mom, I’ve been labelled ‘a bad mom’ for countless reasons.”

While another said: “A lot of haters out there!! so glad you know how to shrug them off!! You go Wonder Woman, you doing great.”

And even non-parents were touched by the message, with one person: ” Love this and i’m not even a mother.”

Sia has two kids, Greyson, 5, and Everly, 3, and became a personal trainer after quitting nursing to become a full-time stay at home mum,  and to dedicate more time to building her online platform.
