Back to the Future musical TRAILER: Christopher Lloyd returns to face new Doc Brown WATCH

Great Scott! It’s finally happening. Back to the Future the musical is opening at Manchester Opera House next month for a limited 12-week season before transferring to London’s West End. And now a trailer for the new show has been released featuring original Doc Brown himself, Christopher Lloyd.

The video opens at the stage door of Manchester Opera House as a clock hits Back to the Future the Musical’s start time of 7:30pm.

A figure is seen reading the Manchester Evening News with a splash announcing the show’s beginning.

New Marty McFly, Olly Dobson, enters, telling him he’s here for the show, but the mysterious man tells the time traveller he’s late.

Nevertheless, the keys to the DeLorean Time Machine are handed over.

They said: “Our cast is outstanding, the songs are fantastic, and director John Rando is doing an amazing job ensuring the show truly captures the magic of the movie.”

“We’re thrilled that we can retell our story on stage in a brand-new way.”

Meanwhile, Christopher Lloyd said: “Ever since Bob Gale told me about this, I’ve been eagerly anticipating it and, in particular, wondering what it will be like to hear Doc Brown sing.

“I’m only sorry I don’t have a real time machine so that I could see it tomorrow.”

Last year, Back to the Future made the Top 10 in a UK poll of the most wanted stage musical adaptations.

Back to the Future came fifth in the poll, while Hugh Jackman’s The Greatest Showman’s was No 1 with 15% of the vote.

Meanwhile, second, third and fourth places went to Moulin Rouge, Wuthering Heights and Bridget Jones’ Diary.

BACK TO THE FUTURE The Musical will open at the Manchester Opera House on February 20, 2020 for a strictly limited 12-week season, finishing on May 17 prior to transferring to the West End. The Box Office will open at 10.00am on Friday May 24, 2019.
