Avengers Endgame: DEVASTATING Iron Man deleted scene answers fans’ biggest question

The Marvel blockbuster – now the biggest film of all time worldwide after finally overtaking Avatar – is poised to be gradually rolled-out on DVD and Blu-ray around the world over the coming weeks.

As part of that promotion, USA Today has shared a full deleted snippet from the final battlefield.

WARNING: Massive Avengers Endgame spoilers ahead, obviously.

That scene comes to a close with the ultimate defeat of Thanos – which comes only when Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) wields the Infinity Stones himself and activates his own Snap.

His human body is not strong enough to take that much energy, and he soon dies a heroic death with Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) and Peter Parker (Tom Holland) by his side.

This new previously-unseen snippet shows the rest of the heroes solemnly taking a knee on the battlefield.

From Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) to Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) – who presumably knew this was coming – we see a large array of MCU favourites paying tribute.

There is another shot in the mix though: of Gamora.

SCROLL DOWN TO WATCH.

Of course the “current” iteration of Zoe Saldana’s character was killed off in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, so that Thanos (Josh Brolin) could obtain the Soul Stone.

But in Endgame, the 2014 version of her was accessed thanks to the invention of time travel, and she managed to sneak through to the present day.

Of course this incarnation of the character has no idea who any of these heroes are, apart from Nebula (Karen Gillan).

So, when the others are taking a knee, she can be seen turning away and leaving – answering the mystery of what happened to her at the end.

Fans had been wondering if she turned to dust when Thanos’s army did, or if she made a hasty getaway, and we now know it’s the latter.

Gamora’s future is presumably open to discovery in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, which will likely be in Phase 5 of the MCU.

It was not part of Kevin Feige’s big Phase 4 announcement at San Diego Comic Con last weekend, but it is thought to be en route as soon as reinstated director James Gunn is done with his Suicide Squad sequel.

Avengers: Endgame is out on digital download in the UK on August 19, and on Blu-Ray and DVD from September 2.
