A new behind the scenes image of Avengers villain Thanos has been shared by the studio which created the look, and it’s a reminder that Josh Brolin wasn’t the first actor to play the role of the Mad Titan but actor Damion Poitier.

Avengers: Endgame saw the eventual demise of Thanos after eight years of teasing and post-credit sting appearances.

But Ironhead Studios, who create costumes as well as character and product design for movies, has now shared a hugely impressive peek into the hours of work and dedication needed for the character.

‘Here’s a look back to 2011 at some behind the scenes photos capturing Thanos from the set of The Avengers,’ they captioned the series of snaps.

‘Jose designed and sculpted the makeup as well as his helmet and armor. The makeup appliances were painted and applied to Damion Poitier by Thom Floutz.’

The character was first teased to audiences in 2011’s Thor.

He went on to make his big-screen debut in 2012 during the climax of Joss Whedon’s Avengers Assemble.

But it wasn’t until 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy that Josh Brolin took over the role of the character from Damion Poitier.

He also appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.

Poitier had previously worked with Whedon on TV shows Firefly and Dollhouse.

He later made an appearance in Captain America: Civil War as one of Crossbones’ mercenaries.
