Australia Ninja Warrior hosts Rebecca Maddern and Ben Fordham reveal why they’re BANNED from going near the famous obstacle course

The stakes are high on Australian Ninja Warrior, as contestants battle to complete the gruelling obstacle course and conquer Mount Midoriyama.

But Rebecca Maddern revealed on Thursday that she and co-hosts Ben Fordham and Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff are banned from trying out the course themselves.

Speaking to WHO magazine, the 41-year-old explained there is a rule in place to prevent them from injuring themselves.

‘We haven’t tried [the course] as the producers don’t want us to film the show with broken legs,’ Rebecca said.

However she added that the steep stairs leading up to the commentary tower, where she and Ben broadcast from, helps keep her fit on set.

Rebecca went on to say the super-fit contestants have ‘inspired her’, as many of them are in their late thirties and forties.

‘I’m in awe of these athletes and they’re not all in their twenties,’ Rebecca said.

Some are around Ben, myself and Freddie’s age – in their forties – and it does inspire you.’

In this year’s season, there is a $300,000 cash prize up for grabs if a contestant completes the course and conquers Mount Midoriyama.

This year, the contestant who goes the furthest and fastest still walks away with $100,000, even if they don’t conquer the course entirely.

Earlier this week, Ben told TV Week that he got in trouble with producers after he sneakily tried the obstacle course.

‘I was told not to but I had a go when I thought nobody was watching,’ Ben said, saying he tried to run up the Warped Wall.

‘They pulled me aside and asked if we could have a discussion about “what had happened that afternoon.” I said, “What happened this afternoon?” And they said, ”You know there are cameras everywhere?!” I told them I wouldn’t do it again!’
