Astral Chain REVIEW: First verdict in and it’s great news for Nintendo Switch fans

Astral Chain is coming to the Nintendo Switch soon, and ahead of the big release date the first review is in.

Astral Chain is the brand new game from Platinum Games, makers of beloved titles such as Bayonetta, Nier: Automata, Vanquish and The Wonderful 101.

Astral Chain is set in a futuristic, cyberpunk world and sees players take control of police officers battling a malevolent race known as Chimeras.

Combat in Astral Chain looks fast, fluid and ridiculously fun – which you’d expect from a game that Hideki Kamiya is supervising development of.

Kamiya-san is best known as the series creator of Devil May Cry and Bayonetta, and also directed the original Resident Evil 2.

The release date for Astral Chain is fast approaching, with the new Platinum Games title coming to Nintendo Switch on August 30.

Ahead of the Astral Chain release date the first review of the Nintendo Switch exclusive has emerged.

Iconic Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has given their verdict of Astral Chain in their latest issue.

And they have awarded Astral Chain an impressive score of 37 out of 40, as revealed in a post by Nintendo Everything.

Famitsu’s scoring system sees four reviewers put a game through its paces and give it a score out of 10.

And three of the four Famitsu reviewers that play tested Astral Chain gave it a score of nine while the other reviewer gave it a ten out of ten.

Astral Chain is available to pre-order right now from the Nintendo eShop as well as from the Nintendo UK Store and other retailers.

Here is the full description for the upcoming Switch title…

ASTRAL CHAIN FOR NINTENDO SWITCH

In the Ark, a multi-cultural city in the near future, disaster strikes when gates to another dimension suddenly appear!

Dangerous creatures begin to emerge, attacking the people and polluting the land, and normal police forces are unable to compete with them.

To stand up against these threats, a brand new, special police unit known as Neuron is formed.

Choose between two playable characters – one male, one female – on your adventure. The character you don’t choose also appears as your younger twin, and a fellow member of Neuron.

In order to resist the creatures, humanity developed a special weapon: the Legion.

The Legion acts as your partner, and helps with your investigations.

However, it’s in battle where the Legion shows its real ability…

Work together with the Legion and use all sorts of combat styles to fight your enemies.

You could both attack the same enemy simultaneously, target different opponents, or send your Legion on the offensive while you support it with items.

Use this synergetic action system to battle and explore together!
