Aston Villa assistant John Terry ‘spies’ on Derby No2 Jody Morris as ex-Chelsea team-mates hit the pub before Championship play-off final

CHELSEA legends Jody Morris and John Terry mocked rivals Leeds United as they sat drinking in a beer garden.

The Blues pair will be rivals when Aston Villa meet Derby County in the Championship play-off final at Wembley on May 27.

And although the two assistant managers were not likely to have been sharing notes for that massive game, they happily set aside their differences to mock the Whites.

Derby boss Frank Lampard and Morris were caught up in the ‘Spygate’ scandal earlier this season, when Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa was caught watching their training sessions.

Although the Rams lost twice to Leeds during the season, Derby had their revenge in the play-off semi-final, winning 4-2 at Elland Road to book their place at Wembley.

Terry, who is Dean Smith’s assistant at Aston Villa, had seen his side beat West Brom the night before.

And on Friday, Terry and Morris, who have remained great friends since they came through the Chelsea youth system together, had a laugh at Bielsa’s expense.

Sitting in a pub beer garden with mates, Morris posted a video on Instagram.

He said: “We’ve got another spy in the camp.”

He then swung the camera round to Terry, who put his fingers up to his eyes in a binoculars gesture – before the whole table burst out laughing.

Morris told TalkSPORT earlier this week him and Lampard are “absolutely buzzing” to face Terry’s Villa.

He said: “We watched the Aston Villa game in our hotel in Leeds.

“Obviously me and Lamps are very close to JT and we were all absolutely buzzing for him to get through.

“It was a tough game against West Brom and penalties can go either way, so we were messaging him congratulations.

“And I got the same message last night, there were couple of words exchanged saying we’ll see you at Wembley!

“Villa are a top team, they’ve been better than us a couple of times when we’ve played them this year. It’ll be a massive game and difficult for both teams.

“We both try to play football the right way and we’ve got good players in our teams. It’ll be a good day out.”
