Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok release latest on PS4 and Xbox as Ubisoft reveal future plans

Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok is reportedly coming to PS4 and Xbox One in 2020 and while this remains a rumour, for now, we do know that Ubisoft has plans for the franchise in February.

The reveal details come directly from recent online rumours, which offer a release date that will prove very popular with fans.

Ubisoft has yet to share details on their next Assassin’s Creed game, which has been linked to PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS5 and Xbox Scarlett.

It would make it one of the first cross-generational games and means it would be available to a big install base.

As the name suggests, Ragnarok will be set during the Viking period of history, although there are differing ideas on the timing.

One rumour states that Ragnor Lothbrok will be featured, while another states the game will be set during a much later period.

These rumours also suggest that Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok will be revealed in February 2020.

This will be part of a much bigger PlayStation event, which will include a first look at the PS5 console.

We’ve already heard reports that such an expo is being held to showcase the PS5 and it would make sense for PS4 and Xbox One games to be featured too.

But it should also be noted that all of these leaks remain unverified and some offer conflicting information.

While these rumours remain unverified we do know that something new is being released for Assassin’s Creed fans in February 2020.

We now know that a new audiobook for the series is being released early next year on Audible.

Assassin’s Creed Gold is being confirmed for release in February 2020, around the same time as the rumours say a game reveal will happen.

But it appears that both of these events will be separate, as the cover art for the new AC: Gold series features a Greek Shield, rather than anything connected to Nordic culture.

“The battle between Assassin and Templar continues,” a message from Ubisoft confirms.

“Don’t miss Assassin’ s Creed Gold, an-all new audio adventure coming to Audible from February 27.”

The story will revolve around a card shark named Aliyah Kahn, who will be accessing the memories of an ancestor, having fallen into debt.

“Assassin’s Creed: Gold follows Aliyah Kahn, a card shark and hustler, who’s been dealt a rough hand in life,” the official description reads.

“Surviving through her smarts and street scams, Aliyah struggles to get by until she loses big time to a mysterious older man, Gavin Banks.

“Her only option to repay Banks is to become an Assassin. During her training, Banks tells Aliyah of the centuries-old battle between the Assassins and Templars, imploring her to help him decode a secret message inscribed on an illegal form of currency during the Great Recoinage of 1696.

“With a cast of characters beloved the world-over by fans of the franchise, Assassin’s Creed: Gold tells a gripping tale of imminent economic collapse, featuring appearances from Warden of the Royal Mint, Isaac Newton, con artist and counterfeiter William Chaloner, blind assassin Omar Khaled and assassin trainer Rose Galloway.

“Equal parts adrenaline-fueled and thought-provoking, Assassin’s Creed: Gold draws a compelling parallel with the financial chaos of Isaac Newton’s 17th Century Britain and the economic uncertainty of our more recent history.”

There’s still a chance that this new audio series will contain clues linked to the next AC game but for now, they have no obvious connections.
