Asos adds charity boutiques to marketplace

Online retailer Asos has announced that Oxfam Festival Shop, Barnardo’s
and Traid charity boutiques will be available on Asos Marketplace, its
platform offering new and vintage fashion from independent boutiques around
the world.

The individual charity boutiques will offer a curated mix of products,
from vintage leather jackets to retro 80s T-shirts, with all proceeds from
purchases going direct to the charity, with no commission paid to Asos.

Prices start at 15 pounds with each boutique available for a limited
period over the summer, with plans underway for future product drops later
in the year, added Asos in a statement.

Alex Cousins, marketplace lead at Asos, said: “Buying vintage or
donating used garments is an incredibly effective way of reducing the
environmental impact of clothing. With the launch of Oxfam Fest,
Barnardo’s, and Traid on Asos Marketplace, we’re taking another step
towards making it easy and convenient for our customers to shop in a
sustainable and responsible way, while supporting the crucial work of these
well-known charities.”

Javed Khan, chief executive of Barnardo’s, added: “This is a fantastic
opportunity to for us to showcase some of the amazing vintage items that
can be found in our 700-plus stores. The money raised from the sale of
items on our Asos Marketplace boutique will help Barnardo’s to continue its
vital work to transform the lives of thousands of children, young people,
parents and carers across the UK.”

The Asos Marketplace, which is home to 700 independent brands and
vintage boutiques from over 45 countries, is currently undergoing a
redesign to “bring a new look and feel to the platform” stated the
e-tailer, to improve the experience for customers and sellers.
