Ashley Young sends emotional message to Man Utd fans after sealing Inter Milan transfer

Manchester United captain Ashley Young has completed his switch to Inter Milan, after swift negotiations. The former England international has thanked the fans for their support during his long spell at Old Trafford.

Young arrived at the San Siro on Friday evening, signing a six-month contract at the club.

His contract also has the option to be extended by a further 12 months.

The full-back arrived at United from Aston Villa in 2011, as part of a £16million move.

After he completed his move to Serie A, Young took to Twitter to thank the United fans for their support over the years.

“To the United fans: every time I walked on the pitch wearing your shirt I gave you my all,” Young tweeted.

“Thank you for your support during the highs and the lows. I leave as one of you, see you again in an away end soon.

“To @ManUtd: you gave me the chance to play with legends, to win trophies, to work under the greatest manager in history and to be your captain.

“Thank you for letting me be part of your story for eight and a half years.”

Young decided to leave United this month in search of added game time.

His contract was already scheduled to run out this summer, and rejected the chance to sign an extension.

Despite playing in nine of United’s first 11 Premier League matches this season, he has since fallen out of favour under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The emergence of Brandon Williams at left-back has left Young spending most matches on the bench.
