Ashley Cain says daughter could only have ‘days to live’ amid leukaemia battle


Former Ex On The Beach star Ashley Cain has given a devastating update on baby daughter Azaylia’s leukaemia battle.

Ashley shared a heartbreaking Instagram post telling his followers that doctors, who are looking after his little girl, have told him that Azaylia could only have “days to live” after they discovered more tumours in her body.

Posting a ten-minute video clip online, the reality star explained that “a lot has been happening” this week and he decided to make a video because there was “too much to write in a caption.”

Ashley said: “So last week we had the bone marrow test and the lumbar puncture and bloods taken to send to Singapore in the hope that they could create therapy to save Azaylia’s life.

“Then we had to have a CT scan on her head and the results came back the next day to say she’s got two very big tumours on her brain.

“They also said that the chemotherapy that is usually given to treat leukaemia in the spine or the brain will not be available because she has too much pressure with these tumours.

“If they tried to go through the spinal tap it would kill her. At that point, our world came down.

“Consultants said that they think she’s only got one, two days to live, it could even be that night.”

He went on to explain that he and Azaylia’s mum, girlfriend Safiyya Vorajee, took the baby home she bravely made it through the next two nights and then told that they decided to take the little one-off pain medication.

Ashley added that Azaylia perked up and it gave him and Safiyya hope that they could travel with her to Singapore for treatment.

However, tragically today the couple were told that doctors in Singapore were unable to offer treatment as Azaylia’s disease is too rare.

He then started to well up as he told how she has had a “tough life since eight weeks old” going through chemotherapy and operations and added that they were taking her back home so they could spend time together.

Full of turmoil, he said: “For the last part of her life I just want to take her home. See her like a baby and give her the best rest of her life ever.”

Adamant to put on a brave face for his little one, he then added that he needed to “be strong” for his daughter as she “needs to see her daddy smiling.”

The family launched a fundraiser to raise enough money to allow Azaylia to receive specialist treatment and admitted they would need in excess of £1 million to make it happen.

Generous fans and celebrities including Molly-Mae Hague and Kate Ferdinand flocked to the Gofundme page to hand over their cash and the’ve raised more than £1.5 million so far.

A post on the page explained: “The ONLY option to save Azaylia’s life is to fly to Singapore for CAR-T therapy plus a haplo transplant, for a minimum period of 1 year.

“Because of the aggressiveness of Azaylia’s disease, we don’t have time on our side and we may have to fly out within a matter of weeks.

“This treatment and associated expenses will be in excess of 1 million pounds with an initial deposit of £500,000 just to be accepted into the hospital and onto the program.

“Azaylia is such a strong little girl who has fought through every near impossible battle so far and she has done it all with love in her heart and a smile on her face!”

Azaylia was diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia two months after her August birth and has been receiving treatment at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
