Ashley Cain has revealed he’s developed breathing problems after contracting Covid.

The former footballer and reality star, who has completed his isolation period, said that his body has been struggling to recover after swimming for 25 minutes and going on a 25-mile bike ride as a result of the virus.

It comes just months after Ashley and his girlfriend Safiyya Vorajee, 34, lost their first child together in April after she battled a rare form of leukaemia.

‘It’s been a mad 10 days. I actually caught Covid quite bad to be honest,’ he shared in a video shared on his Instagram.

‘I was in bed straight for five days, couldn’t get up. I had fever-like symptoms: I was going hot-cold, lost my smell, lost my taste, headaches, backaches.

‘Just body completely aching and then I started developing problems breathing as well.’

Ashley said he worked out in the house while he was battling Covid in hope that it would bring him some relief.

‘Being locked in, especially with what I’ve gone through is just really mentally taxing on your head,’ he continued.

‘Ironically, it’s freedom day today and it was also my freedom day because my last day of isolation was yesterday, so it was good for me to be able to get out, and get on the bike.’

However, Ashley admitted his day of exercise was tough and his body is ‘not recovering’.

‘I did a lower body circuit yesterday and today I could hardly walk,’ he added.

‘Towards the end of the bike ride, I was struggling breathing and also my muscles were fatiguing because I couldn’t get as much oxygen as I wanted, so I don’t know how long it’s going to take to get back to where I was or recover but I’m working on it and I’m glad to be back out.’

Ashley lost his daughter in April after suffering from an aggressive form of leukaemia.

Azaylia Diamond Cain was diagnosed when she was eight weeks old and a fundraiser to try to help save her life had reached more than £1.5 million.
