Ashley Cain took to social media on Monday night to share an emotional tribute on what would have been his daughter’s nine-month birthday.
The reality TV star shared a throwback video of himself playing with baby Azaylia, who tragically died last month after a battle with a rare form of leukaemia.
He posted on Instagram : “Today Azaylia turned 9 months old in heaven.
“I’m finding it hard to look through photos and videos at the moment. So I blindly scrolled through and posted the first video my finger landed on. & what an beautiful video it was!”
His heartfelt message continued: “What a strong, clever, brave and beautiful little girl you were. My champion, my hero… MY INSPIRATION! #AzayliaDiamondCain
“FOREVER IN MY HEART.”
The loving video showed Ashley and Azaylia smiling and raising their arms with Ashley saying “let’s get them, champ” before embracing his daughter with a big hug.
Ashley had earlier posted to his Instagram Stories to share how he had lit a candle with Azaylia’s mum Safiyya Vorajee to mark the occasion.
He said he lit the orange candle so the couple could celebrate “how truly amazing” Azaylia was.
He also wrote “I LOVE YOU CHAMP,” alongside a video set to The Lion King’s Circle of Life theme tune as he panned the camera over a corner of the house which had been decorated with flowers and photos of his beloved daughter.
Safiyya also took to Instagram to mark what would have been her daughter’s nine-month birthday.
She shared a picture of her with her daughter and wrote: “You show us a rainbow to let us no your here.
“Azaylia you are powerful, beautiful and incredible. you fill my soul when you show me these signs that we ask for I’m so proud of you princess I love you so so much.”
She also posted on her Instagram Stories saying her “heart is aching so hard”.
Although Azaylia’s life was tragically cut short, her story inspired millions of supporters across the globe as she put up an incredible fight against her aggressive terminal illness.
Fans helped to raise over £1.6 million to try to help save her life and in a tear-jerking statement released on Azaylia’s GoFundMe page, Ashley and Safiyya thanked their supporters.
The pair have now set up a charity in their daughter’s name.
