Asda adds two new gins to its shelves – and they taste of lemon or watermelon

ASDA has started selling two new fruit-flavoured gins just in time for summer – and they look perfect for drinking in the sunshine.

The new tipples come in refreshing watermelon and lemon flavours – but they will set you back £23 per 700ml bottle.

The watermelon gin is a millennial pink colour, while the lemon tipple is colourless.

The gins are made by Verano and are inspired by Spanish fruits.

They’ll be in stores and online from June 7, so you’ll have to wait a while before you can buy a bottle.

If you can’t wait that long to try it, the gin is already being served up at 800 Stonegate Bars across the country, which includes Slug & Lettuce and Walkabout.

The makers of the gin recommend mixing with tonic for a fruity twist on a classic G&T.

They’ve also suggested mixing Verano Watermelon with lemonade, or Verano Lemon with Appletiser for an easy-to-make cocktail.

If you don’t want to splash out £23 on a bottle, there are cheaper alternatives.

Aldi sells a bottle of McQueen Sweet Citrus Gin for £19.99.

You can also buy Sipsmith’s Lemon Drizzle Gin for £20 from Tesco.

Watermelon gin is rarer but Master of Malt sells a “cucamelon” flavour bottle for £21.95.

Ifan Jenkins, from William Grant & Sons, makers of Verano, said: “We are so excited to be launching the brand new Verano Gin range – a premium and accessible gin that is perfect for sharing with friends.

“Inspired by the colourful and relaxed atmosphere of Spain, Verano is perfect for fun, easy summer entertaining.”

Tesco is selling a new glittery rhubarb gin too for £6.

Last month, Aldi started selling a purple glittery gin that tastes of parma violets for £10.

And there’s even a unicorn gin that tastes like marshmallows.
