Artcade slated for Saturday: Festival offers music, film and video games – KATC Lafayette News

Artcade, a free festival for music, film and video games, is set for Saturday at the LITE Center.

Local musicians, artists, game developers and filmmakers are presenting at the festival, and there also will be a Food Truck Round-Up. Vendors from across the area displaying and selling their art, and visitors can play video games in development. There are panels about the video game, film and art industries, and cosplay workshops.

In recent years, the festival was held at the Lafayette Science Museum during ArtWalk, but this year the organizers moved it to the LITE Center on Cajundome Boulevard.

This move will give artists more space for showcasing their projects, organizers say.

The festival is presented by the Academy of Interactive Entertainment. Organizers describe it as a non-profit college for those who want to break into the video game development and animation industry.

It’s scheduled for 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.
