Arsenal summer signing Kieran Tierney ‘idolises Scott Brown and everything he does,’ according to former Celtic striker Darren Jackson.

The left-back arrived at Arsenal from the Scottish champions for £25m in August, but has made just one Premier League appearance so far due to injury.

The 22-year-old spent his entire career at Celtic, playing in the first team since 2015, before moving to north London.

Throughout the time Tierney was turning out for the Bhoys, Scotland international Scott Brown was captain of the side, and Jackson says the controversial midfielder has rubbed off on the left-back.

‘Well, if you are talking about captains, obviously, Billy [McNeil] is up there on his own, but Scott will be in the next band”, Jackson told PLZ Soccer.

‘I think the influence he has on his team-mates, the respect he has from his team-mates is unquestionable, and I think it’s on and off the pitch as well.

‘You see Kieran Tierney. I think he just idolises Browny and everything he does.

‘Look where Kieran’s ended up and obviously he’s got the ability himself, but he’s looked up to someone who he’s thought “I want to be like you every single game and training”.

‘I think he’s got the desire to still improve every single day, I think Scott has that and he’s been a wonderful captain. 19 trophies is just incredible.’

Brown, 34, has won nine Scottish Premiership titles with Celtic but comfortably leads the way for worst disciplinary record of all time in the Scottish Premiership.

The midfielder has racked up 93 yellow cards, four second yellow cards and two red cards over his career in the Scottish top flight for Hibs and Celtic.

His nearest competitor when it comes to bookings is Murray Davidson, who has picked up 21 fewer than the Celtic man.

Brown has also courted controversy for his actions surrounding Old Firm derbies, winding up players and fans alike, which goes down well with Celtic fans, but has drawn criticism from wider football circles.
