Arsenal vs Lyon LIVE: Stream, score, goals and latest updates from the Emirates Cup as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang strikes

Follow the latest updates from the pre-season friendly between Arsenal and Lyon in the revamped Emirates Cup.

The Gunners are priming for the new Premier League season as they take on Lyon, after the Women’s side were defeated 1-0 by Bayern Munich earlier in the day, in an Emirates Cup double-header.

After a strong start, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave the Gunners a deserved lead, turning in Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s rifled cross after 35 minutes. Follow the live action below.

Lyon almost equalise! Dembele is immediately involved for the French side early in this second half. He cuts in on his left and slides a pass to Depay, whose right-footed shot is whipped just wide of Leno’s left post. A strong start for Lyon.

Lyon have also made some changes, with Moussa Dembele’s appearance likely to delight the visiting fans.

Anthony Lopes, who made a fine stop in the first half to deny Mkhitaryan’s goal-bound volley, is also off. The goalkeeper is replaced by Anthony Racioppi.

Mkhitaryan is replaced by Eddie Nketiah as the second half gets underway. The 20-year-old who has already scored three goals in pre-season.

Lyon felt somewhat aggrieved late in the half not to be awarded a penalty, but Arsenal had their own shout early in the game when Monreal went down in the visitors’ box. Perhaps the two incidents balanced out in the end..?

Aubameyang was the difference-maker in that first half, finding the net with an instinctive finish after 36 minutes of football.

Youngsters Nelson and Willock were perhaps the most impressive Gunners though, both looking comfortable and confident on the ball, and eager to attack.

Lyon, who started with energy, faded, but Sylvinho’s players worked hard after conceding. There’s a foundation for the Ligue 1 side to build on in the second half, which is coming up soon.

Lyon go close! Monreal gives the ball away sloppily to Lucas, who leads a smooth move in the box and slides a low shot across goal. It’s not far away, but Arsenal survive.

That’s the final play of the half. Arsenal lead 1-0 at half-time.

Some miscommunication in the Arsenal defence sees the ball trail along the edge of their box and to the feet of Depay. He takes a moment to line up the shot, but blazes well over the bar.

Lyon earn another corner, but once more they fail to capitalise. The French club are trying to respond to that Arsenal goal, but there’s only five minutes left in the half.

The goal arrived on the 36-minute mark and Arsenal will be hoping to maintain their lead for what’s left of the half.

Mkhitaryan crosses in from the right and the ball goes in off Aubameyang. I’m not sure how intentional that finish was from the Gabon international, but either way, it’s in the back of the next. A deserved lead for Arsenal.

ARSENAL LEAD! AUBAMEYANG MAKES IT 1-0!

Marcal takes a throw-in deep in the Gunners’ half and finds Depay by the corner flag. The Dutch winger tries to dribble past Calum Chambers, but the Arsenal man uses his strength to dispossess Depay.

Lovely link-up play between Mkhitaryan and Ainsley Maitland-Niles on the right wing, but again, Arsenal lack the final product.

Depay is at the heart of a tidy Lyon move around the edge of Arsenal’s box, but a tame shot by Traore is all that comes of the visitors’ attack. It’s enough for a corner, but Arsenal deal with it well.

Emery will be happy with the start his side have made and he’ll be particularly pleased with his youngsters. Willock and substitute Nelson are full of confidence and running. The Gunners’ boss may feel that his team should have converted one of their chances, however.

Arsenal are applying almost constant pressure at the moment. Lyon are struggling to make an impact on the game now, with their early energy seeming to desert them.

CHANCE FOR ARSENAL! The Gunners’ closest effort so far. The ball is whipped in from the right and Mkhitaryan meets it expertly on the volley inside the box. Lopes dives to his right and palms away the shot, and the rebound is blasted over by Willock!

Reiss Nelson has taken up position on the right wing and he looks lively already. First he flashes a low ball across the Napoli goal, then he’s involved in a move that sees Joe Willock’s right-footed shot inside the box saved well.

Lacazette seemed to be somewhat troubled as he departed the pitch, but it didn’t look like he was suffering any serious injury…

An early substitution for Arsenal sees Lacazette leave the field as 19-year-old Reiss Nelson comes on in his place.
