Arsenal transfer round-up: Torreira's exit, interest in West Ham's Anderson

Arsenal have been one of the busiest Premier League clubs so far in this transfer window,
and it doesn’t seem like the Gunners are done just yet.

Mikel Arteta has already brought in Willian, Cedric Soares and Gabriel Magalhaes to help
improve his squad for next season.

The Gunners finished the season on a high – winning the FA Cup – and last weekend’s
Community Shield victory over Liverpool has helped raise spirits even higher.

Here’s a full round-up of the latest transfer rumours involving Arsenal.

The midfielder has struggled for game time

Torreira exit looks imminent

Arsenal have agreed a deal for midfielder Lucas Torreira to join Fiorentina, according to
Italian outlet Labaro Viola.

However, the Gunners are eagerly awaiting for confirmation of Dani Ceballos re-signing –
which will then trigger Torreira’s exit.

The Italian publication claims that Arsenal will allow the Uruguay international to join the

Florence-based club on a loan deal – for a fee of £8m – before an obligation to purchase him
next summer for £16m.

Torreira signed for the Gunners back in 2018 from Sampdoria, and despite a strong start at
the Emirates Stadium, has struggled for regular first-team football over the last few years.

Napoli president confirms interest in Sokratis

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed his side are interested in a move for
Arsenal defender Sokratis.

With the arrival of Gabriel earlier in the week, it would seem that the Greek centre-back has
fallen even further down the pecking order at the Emirates.

Napoli could be Sokratis’ next destination, with the Naples-based club keen on bringing the
experienced defender to Italy, as per Il Napoli Online, via the Daily Mail.

De Laurentiis said: “We are working on signing Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Arsenal, we
consider it an option.”

Felipe Anderson endured a difficult season

Gunners register interest in Hammers star

Arsenal are interested in West Ham United winger Felipe Anderson this summer, according
to a report in Football Insider.

Arteta is thought to be a “big admirer” of the 27-year-old Brazilian attacker and the Gunners
have made him a top target this summer, the report states.

West Ham’s wish to offload some of their senior players this summer makes a potential deal
much easier for Arsenal.

It wasn’t the best season for Anderson last time out, however, with the winger on target just
once in 28 Premier League appearances.

Saints interested in Balogun

Southampton are interested in signing Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun, according to the
Beautiful Game Podcast.

The 19-year-old looks likely to leave the Emirates this summer, and the Saints are just one
of a host of clubs keen on a deal.

Balogun has come through the ranks with the Arsenal academy, but first-team opportunities
may be limited for the teenager.

The USA-born striker scored 34 goals in 33 appearances in the 2019/20 U18 Premier
League season.
