Thomas Meunier talks

Arsenal are hoping to beat Manchester United to the signing of Paris Saint-Germain right-back Thomas Meunier, according to reports.

Gunners manager Unai Emery worked with Meunier during his one season as PSG boss and is said to have made contact with him in recent weeks on several occasions.

Belgian publication HLN say Emery wants him to provide some competition for Hector Bellerin who spent most of last season out injured.

Arsenal could hold an advantage over Manchester United their Premier League rivals given his previous looks to Emery.

The report claims Meunier will be available for around €25million (£22m).

Stephan Lichtsteiner says goodbye

Arsenal full-back Stephan Lichtsteiner is expected to leave the club this summer.

The 35-year-old moved to the Emirates Stadium from Juventus last summer, signing an initial one-year deal, on a free transfer, with the club having an option to extend by a further year.

Lichtsteiner appeared to post a farewell message to the Gunners on his Instagram account on Monday – and it is believed the club are not expecting an extension to his contract.

“I loved to be a part of this club. It was a great challenge and experience without a happy end, unfortunately. Thank you very much for your overwhelming support! It was much appreciated! See you, Stephan,” Lichtsteiner posted on Instagram alongside a slideshow of images from the loss to the Blues in Baku.

South American trio

Unai Emery has three Aaron Ramsey replacements in mind, according to reports.

TNT Sports claim that the north London giants are looking in the South American market to replace Ramsey.

Three players are in their sights – with two of them plying their trade in Argentina with Boca Juniors.

Those players are Nahitan Nandez and Emanuel Reynoso.

Another player TNT Sports say Arsenal are interested is River Plate star Exequiel Palacios.

Edu is said to be taking up a new role at Arsenal on July 7 and has set his sights on youngster Gabriel Martinelli.

“Gunners agreed to a deal which will see the Brazilian striker arrive in the summer from ItuanoFC after he will turn 18.”

Jeff Reine-Adelaide

Jeff Reine-Adelaide was told that he was surplus to requirements by manager Unai Emery.

Reine-Adelaide, 21, joined Arsenal in 2015 but made just eight senior appearances in his three years at the club before joining Ligue 1 side Angers.

“It is true that I would like to speak a little less of Arsenal. I was young. It was complicated,” he told Goal.

“There was so much competition that it was difficult to get into the coach’s line-up. He [Emery] told me that the club did not rely too much on me. I took a blow, but Angers was on the lookout. It was a new chance.”
