Celtic captain Scott Brown believes Kieran Tierney could end up at a club of Barcelona or Paris Saint-Germain’s stature if he succeeds at Arsenal.

Tierney, 22, was one of six players to join Arsenal this summer, completing a £25million move from Celtic on deadline day and putting pen to paper on a five-year contract at the Emirates.

Gabriel Martinelli, Nicolas Pepe, David Luiz, Dani Ceballos (loan) and William Saliba – who has been loaned back to Saint-Etienne – also arrived through the doors in a busy few weeks for the north London club.

While Tierney is yet to play for the Gunners as he continues his recovery from a double a hernia operation, Brown already has his eye on the left-back’s next move.

‘You don’t know what could happen,’ the Celtic midfielder told The Herald.

‘He could have a fantastic couple of seasons and end up at Barcelona or PSG or wherever.’

Tierney received criticism from some of Celtic’s fan base for moving south of the border, but Brown has urged supporters to show support for the Scotland full-back.

‘There are pictures on the wall all over the club of players who have left and everyone would wish them all the best,’ Brown said.

‘They can come back as well, that’s what this cub is all about.

‘I see Ajax bringing players through and selling them on – and they have a party for them leaving. We try and criticise. It’s a different level.

‘We wish him all the best. We just concentrate on now and Boli (new Celtic left-back Bolingoli) has to push on and try to get to the levels that Kieran did.’
