William Saliba latest

Arsenal legend Lauren thinks the Gunners should go all out to sign William Saliba from St Etienne.

Saliba, a 6ft 4in centre-back, enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in Ligue 1 this season and could be snapped up for £25million this summer.

He said: “He looks a very good player. Strong, tall, can come out of the back with the ball and an international for France.

“He reads the game very well, which is important for a player at the back, you have to anticipate and he looks very good at just 18, so the future is bright!”

Manchester United have also been linked with Saliba and are believed to have sent scouts to monitor his progress this year.

More pressure the better

Petr Cech believes that Arsenal are ready to relish the high stakes in Wednesday’s Europa League final against his former club Chelsea.

The Arsenal goalkeeper will bring the curtain down on his illustrious career this summer.

“It will sound strange, but I think generally at Arsenal there is not enough pressure,” Cech said. “Arsene Wenger is a real gentleman. As much as he hates losing, he stays a gentleman.

“I feel that when Arsenal need to win, we win. You go to Athens in the last Champions League group game (of 2015) needing to win 2-0, and you win 3-0.

“No matter where, we win, because that fire was right behind us as we had to really win. The pressure was what was pushing us.”

Chelsea stars CLASH, Sarri storms off

David Luiz and Gonzalo Higuain were involved in a stunning bust-up during Chelsea training on the eve of the Europa League final.

Luiz and Higuain came together as the Blues were put through their paces at the Olympic Stadium in Baku.

Higuain appeared to challenge the Brazilian from behind, angering Luiz and causing the defender to lash out with his arm.

The pair exchanged words as Cesar Azpilicueta came over to intervene while manager Maurizio Sarri appeared to be infuriated by their actions.

The Chelsea manager stormed off the pitch towards the dressing room, throwing his cap on the floor and kicking it on more than one occasions while angrily gesturing towards his players.

Mario Gotze latest

Contract talks between Mario Gotze and Borussia Dortmund have stalled.

That’s according to German publication Bild, who claim the forward is hesitant about agreeing to an extension.

Gotze, 26, has one year remaining on his current deal and after some positive talks in recent weeks – it appears there’s been a breakdown.

The report adds that Arsenal have shown interested and Gotze could be tempted to join former colleagues Sokratis, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the Emirates Stadium.

Alexis Sanchez return

Arsenal have been urged to re-sign Alexis Sanchez this summer.

Several Italian clubs have been linked with the Chilean, who earns around £500,000-a-week at Manchester United.

But club legend Lauren thinks the 30-year-old should welcomed back to Arsenal with open arms.

“Sanchez is a top player and top players are always welcome at Arsenal,” he told AmericanGambler. “If Emery could get him back mentally because it has been a while without him playing, then he could be a good addition.

“It depends if he is the kind of player that Unai would enjoy having at Arsenal.”

Andre Gomes latest

Arsenal are considering a move for Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes.

Gomes, 25, dazzled during his season-long loan spell with Everton last season – forming a solid partnership with Idrissa Gueye under Marco Silva.

The Toffees want to sign him on a permanent basis, as do Premier League rivals West Ham and Tottenham.

However, Catalan radio station RAC1 claim Arsenal are looking at the Portuguese international to replace Juventus-bound Aaron Ramsey.

Gianluigi Donnarumma bid

Arsenal are eyeing AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma with Manchester United also interested, it has been claimed.

The Gunners are said to be unconvinced by Bernd Leno and with Petr Cech retiring at the end of the season they are seeking a top quality shot stopper.

TMW claim Donnarumma is happy in Milan at present though but Mino Raiola could hatch a plan to move him on.

Reports last week claimed Manchester United were on alert as they look to sort out the future of David De Gea.

And Raiola could force Milan to sell Donnarumma to get him a big-money move.

That could lead to Arsenal and United battling for the signature of the 20-year-old.

Thomas Meunier hijack

Unai Emery has told club chiefs that he wants to raid PSG for Thomas Meunier, stealing the Belgian from under the noses of Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly a fan of Meunier, and had planned to make a move for the out-of-favour defender this summer.

However, according to France Football, he will face stiff competition from Emery, who has spotted an opportunity to raid his former side.

Emery took over at PSG back in 2016, and one of his first pieces of business was signing Meunier from Club Brugge for £6.1million.

It is likely that if either Arsenal or United are to prise the Belgian away from Paris, they will have to pay upwards of £25m.

He’s 50/50…

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is 50/50 to take on Arsenal in the Europa League final on Wednesday night, head coach Maurizio Sarri has revealed.

The France international has missed his side’s last two matches with a knee injury and may be unable to play in Baku.

Sarri said: “Very little problem with his knee. The problem is the timing. We are trying. At the moment we don’t know. We will try until the last moment.”
