Arsenal make Wilfried Zaha decision with Crystal Palace deal ‘in the balance’

Arsenal had a bid of £40million for Zaha turned down by Crystal Palace earlier this month.

The Eagles are said to want double that price and are under no pressure to sell following the £50m exit of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United.

Solhekol says Zaha remains Arsenal’s priority target heading into the final two weeks of the transfer window.

But he wonders how Zaha will react if a deal fails to go through.

“This one is very much in the balance at the moment,” Solhekol said on the Transfer Talk podcast.

“I think Crystal Palace are standing very firm, saying that he will not be leaving Selhurst Park unless their valuation is met. That is about £80m.

“I think Arsenal are still keen to sign him.

“One source has told us they will make another bid for him this week. But that hasn’t been confirmed by other sources.

“I just think as time goes on, this starts looking less and less likely.

“I think the situation is that Arsenal still want to sign him. Unai Emery has made him his No 1 target this summer.

“But there is only [two weeks] to go now until the window closes.

“Crystal Palace have already made money from selling Aaron Wan-Bissaka, they don’t need to sell Zaha.

“But you just have to think what kind of frame of mind would he be in if he was to stay at Selhurst Park.

“How long would it take him to get over the fact he didn’t get his move to Arsenal, the club that we’ve been told is his dream club, that he supported.

“I don’t know how long it would take for him to get his head right and focus on Crystal Palace if the move doesn’t come off.

“If that move is going to happen, Arsenal are going to have to dig deep and come up with much more money than £40m.”
