Arsenal have made an offer to Shanghai SIPG manager Vitor Pereira to become their next manager, according to reports.

Pereira is one of several names under consideration to take permanent charge at the Emirates, but would be a left-field choice.

The 51-year-old is currently managing in China and has already turned down an approach from Everton to make the move to the Premier League.

Pereira’s biggest jobs to date was at Porto, Fenerbahce and Olympiacos, but reports in Portugal claim Arsenal have handed him a proposal.

Diario de Noticias claim Pereira has received an offer and that it is ‘in his hands’.

Pereira was not interested in the Everton job, but thinks the Arsenal position is a far more attractive offer considering the size of the club.

The Portuguese will take the next few days to weigh up his options and decide whether to leave China and join Arsenal.

When Pereira ruled himself out of the running for the Everton job, he said he would be interested in working in the Premier League in the future.

‘It’s always an honour and I am utterly grateful to be considered on a list by a club that I have so much respect for’ he said

‘At this point I am still the coach of SIPG a club close to my heart in a country that is growing immensely in football.
