Arsenal have made an offer to Layvin Kurzawa in a bid to sign the Paris Saint-Germain star ahead of Barcelona, according to reports.

The full-back is available on a free transfer this summer and has a host of suitors, including Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Arsenal were close to signing Kurzawa last January before the defender decided to see out the remainder of the season with PSG.

Spanish outlet Sport claim Arsenal have again made a move to sign Kurzawa and have done so with Barcelona stalling in their bid to land the Frenchman.

Kurzawa prefers a switch to Barcelona and would like to have his transfer move wrapped up as soon as possible.

Barcelona view the 27-year-old as a cheap option for them to strengthen their defence, but the Catalan giants do not want to commit to any deal during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Spanish side also want to offload Junior Firpo before they bring in another left-back.

Football in Spain and the UK has been suspended due to the health crisis and it is unclear when postponed games will be able to be played.

If matches do resume it will be this summer and that could have a big effect on clubs’ transfer business, if the opening of window itself is not delayed.

Kurzawa, however, is eager to resolve his future and Arsenal have made an ‘interesting’ offer to lure him to London.

The left-back’s agent Kia Joorabchian has warned Barcelona about the rival interest in his player and told them his client won’t wait around for a decision to be made.

Arsenal are not the only club trying to take advantage of Barcelona’s stalling, with Italian side Napoli also making an offer.

Mikel Arteta is keen to find further cover in defence and signed Cedric Soares from Southampton on loan to do just that.

But the Portuguese is yet to play due to injury and his loan deal at Arsenal could well have expired by the time the 2019/2020 season resumes.
