Ian Wright admits he was ‘very disappointed’ with Unai Emery’s decision to substitute Lucas Torreira during Arsenal’s draw with Wolves.

The Gunners suffered another disappointing result at home to Wolves on Saturday after Raul Jimenez cancelled out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s opener.

Emery is under huge pressure at the Emirates, with Arsenal now winning just one of their last five league fixtures and slipping three points behind fourth-placed Leicester City.

Boos rang out inside the Emirates after the Wolves draw and Arsenal legend Wright has revealed his disappointment at one of Emery’s substitutions.

Midfielder Torreira was surprisingly replaced by talented winger Bukayo Saka on Saturday and Arsenal conceded just three minutes later.

‘Arsenal at home, for me, it’s like a basketball match,’ the former Gunners and England striker told BBC Radio 5 Live.

‘Whoever is playing at Arsenal, it doesn’t matter what the score is, they should have belief they have a chance of getting back into the game.

‘I was very disappointed to see Lucas Torreira taken off because he is that defensive midfielder and you just want to see those players staying on the pitch.

‘But you have to credit to Wolves, they kept going.’

Emery, meanwhile, insists he feels the ‘responsibility’ to improve after Wolves fought back to earn a deserved point against his struggling Arsenal side.

‘I am very demanding of myself,’ Emery said. ‘We are not proud of our result today. The result is not good. I feel every time my responsibility to work and come back with better results.’

Arsenal face Europa League rivals Vitoria de Guimaraes on Wednesday evening before visiting in-form Leicester next weekend.
