Arsenal are nearing an agreement for Celtic defender Kieran Tierney after making a breakthrough in talks with the Bhoys.

The Gunners have had two bids rejected by the Scottish giants this summer, who are seeking around £30million for the Scotland international.

Celtic were unhappy with the number of ‘unachievable’ add-ons included in Arsenal’s bids for Tierney but Sky Sports claim the two clubs have made significant progress in the last round of talks.

While a third bid is yet to be submitted, it’s understood that the two clubs are closer to an agreement which ‘satisfies’ both parties.

Capturing Tierney would be a significant coup for the Gunners, who have stepped up their transfer business in the last week.

William Saliba and Dani Ceballos both signed on Thursday, while widespread reports on Friday night claim the Gunners have agreed a club record deal for Lille star Nicolas Pepe.

Lille have accepted offers from four clubs for Pepe but Arsenal are believed to have offered better personal terms to the Ivory Coast international than their rivals.

Arsenal take on Lyon at the Emirates on Sunday in the first of three final pre-season matches before they open their Premier League campaign against Newcastle in a fortnight’s time.
