Arsenal 'have £43million double transfer bid rejected' in blow to Unai Emery

Arsenal are said to have had a double deal for Sampdoria’s Joachim Andersen and Dennis Praet turned down by the Italian club.

The Gunners reportedly bid £43million for the services of the pair, but according to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Football Italia ) the Serie A side – from whom Arsenal brought in Lucas Torreira last year – are demanding that they raise that bid to £49million.

Defender Andersen, 23, is a Danish international who has been targeted by Emery to help solve the Gunners’ issues at the back.

Belgian Praet, is a familiar name to Gunners fans having long been linked with the club, and Unai Emery is believed to be ready to bring in the 25-year-old in a bid to boost the creativity within his side.

Andersen is highly-rated in Italy

With such a meagre difference between the apparent offer and what Sampdoria want then it is to be hoped that the Gunners can the deals done, although having missed out on qualifying for the Champions League they are believed to only have around £45million to spend this summer, prior to player sales.

One man who won’t be leaving the club is Granit Xhaka though.

The Swiss has been linked with a switch to Inter Milan, but he poured cold water on transfer speculation on Sunday after playing for Switzerland in their Nations League third-place playoff match against England, which the Three Lions won on penalties after a goalless draw.

Praet has long been linked to the Gunners

“Not that I know,” Xhaka told Blick when asked if he was planning to leave.

“I have another four years on my contract, I only signed last year.

“I’m happy there, my family too. That’s the most important.”
