Arsenal fans spot what Man City wrote about Gunners legend Thierry Henry on official site

Manchester City have described Thierry Henry as “arguably the greatest player the Premier League has ever seen” and Arsenal fans have taken note in approval of that statement ahead of Vincent Kompany’s testimonial match.

Kompany’s stunning 11-year stint at City will be honoured on September 11 in front of a packed Etihad Stadium in a friendly encounter that will see the legendary skipper linking up with some of the club’s most notable players against a Premier League all-star side.

Henry will be leading the attack for the All-Stars and the Premier League champions are glad that he will be part in this special occasion as they consider him as arguably the greatest player in the history of English football.

The Arsenal legend will start upfront with fellow Gunners great Robin van Persie and will be joined by the likes of Edwin van der Sar, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and more.

A City statement read: “Thierry Henry will lead the attack for the Premier League All-Stars XI in Vincent Kompany’s testimonial.

“The Arsenal legend – arguably the greatest player the Premier League has ever seen – has confirmed his place in the side, which will see him reform his partnership upfront with Robin van Persie.”

Arsenal fans took note of that positive statement for the club’s record goalscorer who spearheaded their undefeated Invincibles campaign in 2004.

A supporter took to Reddit to express his approval as he shared a picture of the announcement.

The post was captioned with: “Love the way the Man City website described our Henry.

“He will be playing in Kompany’s testimonial.”

The City legends will be managed Pep Guardiola and will include Joe Hart as well as Costel Pantilimon as the options in goal.

The defence will be consisted of Kompany, Joleon Lescott, Micah Richards, Kolo Toure, Pablo Zabaleta, Richard Dunne and Gael Clichy.

Nigel De Jong, Samir Nasri, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Stephen Ireland, David Silva, Dietmar Hamann and James Milner will be up for selection in midfield.

The attacking options are comprised of Craig Bellamy, Sergio Aguero, Mario Balotelli and Benjani.

The All-Stars will be managed by Belgium boss Roberto Martinez and will include a number of Manchester United greats like Van der Sar, Phil Neville, Gary Neville, John O’Shea, Wes Brown, Scholes, Nicky Butt, Michael Carrick, Giggs and Van Persie.

Shay Given, Rafael van der Vaart and Cesc Fabregas will also be joining Henry.
