Arsenal are growing increasingly confident that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will commit his long-term future to the club and sign a new three-year contract extension.

The Gabon international had entered the final 12 months of his current deal and refused to address his future after he played a starring role in last weekend’s FA Cup final victory against Chelsea.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Aubameyang and his representatives have held a positive round of negotiations with the north London club and the new deal would run until 2023, covering what remains of his existing deal and extending it by a further two years.

As well has being handed a significant rise on his current £200,000-a-week wages, the 31-year-old is said to have been given assurances that Mikel Arteta will be given the funds he requires to build on the promising start he has made to his managerial career.

After last month’s win over champions Liverpool, Arteta implored the club’s board to get the cheque book out in order help him further bridge the gap between Arsenal and the Premier League’s elite clubs.

The Gunners have already secured the services of January loan recruits Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares on permanent deals, while William Saliba, who cost £27million last summer, has returned from his loan spell at Saint-Etienne.

Arsenal are also close to signing Willian on a free transfer from Chelsea, while fellow Brazil international Coutinho could arrive on loan from Barcelona.

A third Brazilian, Lille’s Gabriel Magalhaes, has also reportedly decided he wants to join the FA Cup holders, although the likes of Everton, Manchester United and Napoli remain interested in his services.
