Arsenal 1-0 Man Utd LIVE score: Granit Xhaka goal gives Gunners the lead

Arsenal hold a 1-0 lead over Manchester United at the break at the Emirates Stadium courtesy of Granit Xhaka’s strike. There was little between the two teams in the first half, but David de Gea made a rare mistake for the Red Devils. He allowed Xhaka’s strike from distance to find the back of the net albeit the Swiss struck his effort with a slight bit of swerve. United have come close through Romelu Lukaku, but his close-range effort hit the bar, while Fred struck the foot of the post. It has been an open contest and there could be more goals in this one in the second period.

HALF-TIME: ARSENAL 1-0 MANCHESTER UNITED

Rashford loses possession once again, but Kolasinac fails to punish the forward, sending his attempted lofted pass for Aubameyang out for a throw-in.

Shaw tries to find Rashford in the final third, but the forward takes a loose touch and allows the ball to travel out for a goal-kick.

There will be two minutes of added time.

The referee stops an Arsenal counter so Xhaka can receive treatment after taking a blow from Rashford during his block. However, the Swiss appears to be ok to continue.

Pogba opens up the Arsenal defence with a precise offload into the box for Lukaku. The Belgian takes the ball out of the air before sending Dalot down the flank. He cuts the ball back for Rashford, but Xhaka on the slide makes a vital challenge to stop the strike.

Ramsey battles down the flank to dispossess Young and he runs upfield before trying to release Ozil. However, the German is caught offside. Ozil is having one of those off days for Arsenal thus far.

Shaw sends Rashford down the left flank and he tries to cut the ball back for Lukaku. Monreal reads the danger and is able to make a firm clearance ahead of the Belgian.

The visitors take the free-kick short and Shaw clips a cross to the back post for Smalling to challenge. He climbs on the back of Kolasinac, but sends his tame header wide of the post.

Sokratis wipes out Pogba in the middle of the park and goes into the book. The defender has to be careful again.

SAVE! Rashford releases Lukaku through the middle and he fends of Monreal. The Belgian tries to round Leno, but the Arsenal keeper does well to make the stop before Lukaku fails to find Fred with his offload. United keep the pressure on, although the Gunners are able to hold firm.

Lacazette tries to surge through the United defence and offload towards Aubameyang. However, he loses his footing and scoops the ball out for a goal-kick.

Kolasinac looks to release the run of Ozil in the final third, only for the linesman to raise his flag for offside against the German.

Shaw sees his cross cleared by Ozil before Dalot goes for the strike from 20 yards, but he places his attempt over the bar.

Maitland-Niles brings down Shaw on the charge down the left, handing United a free-kick in a good position.

Lacazette works the ball to Kolasinac down the left flank and he fires the ball across the face of goal. However, Aubameyang is on his heels and cannot make contact in the middle.

Pogba finds Lukaku in space on the edge of the box, but rather than shooting the Belgian clips a cross to the back post. Rashford makes the run, but just cannot make contact as the ball heads out for a goal-kick.

Pogba lines up an ambitious attempt from distance, but his effort sails into the hands of Leno, who makes the claim with ease.

BLOCK! Smalling puts his body on the line to divert Lacazette’s strike behind for a corner after the Frenchman had twisted and turned his way past Lindelof.

Shaw nods the ball down to Rashford in the left inside channel. The forward has space and time, but he volleys the ball out of touch for a goal-kick even with support around him.

OVER! Ozil runs at the United defence before releasing Maitland-Niles down the right flank. He cuts the ball back for Ramsey in the middle, only for the Welshman to scoop his strike over the bar.

It has been an open game in the opening 20 minutes of the contest. Both sides have had opportunities, but the one mistake from De Gea has made the difference.

OFF THE POST! United work the ball with patience on the edge of the box before Pogba picks out Fred. He goes for the strike on his left foot, but it strikes the post and travels behind for a goal-kick.

Ozil slides an offload into the feet of Lacazette on the edge of the box. The Frenchman takes a touch and should shoot, but he carries on with his run and then sees his eventual strike blocked into the arms of De Gea by Young.

Six of Xhaka’s seven Premier League goals for Arsenal have come from outside the box, including both against Man Utd.
