Armie Hammer has been dropped from another film amid sexual assault claims made against him.

The actor, 34, was set to star in Cold War drama Billion Dollar Spy, directed by filmmaker Amma Asante, but Variety reports Hammer is ‘no longer attached’ to the project.

Billion Dollar Spy was thought to be the only move remaining on Hammer’s films slate.

According to the publication, reps for the film company behind Billion Dollar Spy, Asante and Walden Media, have declined to comment any further on Hammer’s removal.

He was set to appear onscreen alongside Mads Mikkelsen, known for his appearances in Hannibal and James Bond movie Casino Royale, who stars as the upcoming movie’s lead role.

It comes as Hammer was accused of ‘violently raping’ a woman in Los Angeles in 2017 – claims he has vehemently denied.

A 24-year-old woman, known as Effie, claims to have had an on/off relationship for four years with Hammer, after meeting him on Facebook in 2016.

She alleged that he had ‘violently’ assaulted her for four hours, repeatedly hitting her head against a wall.

Hammer’s lawyer has called the allegations ‘outrageous’ and issued a statement to Metro.co.uk, while sharing screenshots of an alleged exchange between Effie and Hammer.

The statement read: ‘Effie’s own correspondence with Mr. Hammer undermines and refutes her outrageous allegations. As recently as July 18, 2020, [she] sent graphic texts to Mr. Hammer telling him what she wanted him to do to her. Mr. Hammer responded making it clear that he did not want to maintain that type of relationship with her. The screenshot below is just one of hundreds [she] sent to Mr. Hammer.’

‘It was never Mr. Hammer’s intention to embarrass or expose her fetishes or kinky sexual desires, but she has now escalated this matter to another level by hiring a civil lawyer to host a public press conference. With the truth on his side, Mr. Hammer welcomes the opportunity to set the record straight.’

Hammer’s lawyer continued: ‘From day one, Mr. Hammer has maintained that all of his interactions with [her] — and every other sexual partner of his for that matter — have been completely consensual, discussed and agreed upon in advance, and mutually participatory. [Her] attention seeking and ill-advised legal bid will only make it more difficult for real victims of sexual violence to get the justice they deserve.’

The allegation came as Hammer was forced to hit back at controversial cannibalism claims.

Messages allegedly from the Call Me By Your Name star detailing disturbing sexual fantasies, relating to cannibalism and BDSM, were leaked online earlier this year.

It’s alleged Hammer had sent graphic sexual messages to several women and he is claimed to have engaged in emotionally abusive behaviour.

Hammer denied the allegations against him and slammed them to be ‘bulls**t’, as he dropped out of upcoming movie Shotgun Wedding, where he was cast alongside Jennifer Lopez, Lenny Kravitz and Jennifer Coolidge.

According to Variety, Hammer has been dropped from every film and TV show, including Paramount+ series The Offer, he was signed up to star in prior to allegations against him surfacing and he was also reportedly dropped by his agent.

Hammer will star in Disney’s upcoming movie Death On The Nile, which has already wrapped up. It’s release date was recently pushed back until 2022, due to revised scheduling.

Metro.co.uk has reached out to a rep for Hammer for comment.
