ARK Survival Evolved update: PS4 and Xbox patch news for Genesis Chronicles release

Studio Wildcard has confirmed that they are getting closer to launching the new Genesis Chronicles content in ARK Survival Evolved.

While still without a firm release date, a new statement from the dev team reveals that they’re entering the final stages of planning the launch.

And from what has been shared so far, a series of new updates will be released on PS4, Xbox One and PC, before the next major game expansion.

It will include special content, teasing what’s coming next to the game, connected to the Genesis release in December.

And it also appears that these updates will include a way to unlock new ARK Survival cosmetics.

However, much of this new content may only be available to those who have pre-ordered the Genesis expansion.

The new statement from Studio Wildcard confirms that new Explorer Notes will only be accessible via the HLN-A cosmetic companion.

No release date has been set for this new update, but there is still the chance of it dropping later this week.

“We’re making the final preparations for a client and server-side update that will bring Genesis Chronicles to survivors on PC, Xbox, and PS4,” a message from studio Wildcard reveals.

“Leading up to the release of Genesis we will begin to include Genesis-related Explorer Notes on The Island, Scorched Earth, and Aberration.

“Survivors with the cosmetic HLN-A will find some explorer notes provide a glimpse of what to expect in the forthcoming Genesis expansion — and how it all fits into the larger ARK story.

“If you want to unlock a new set of skins for your armour, be sure to collect them all!”

It’s unclear at this time if more changes and tweaks will be added via these new updates, or if they will be mostly cosmetic in nature.

If there is anything that affects the base game, Studio Wildcard will likely share a list of patch notes soon after the update going live. ARK: Genesis will include two new expansion packs which aim to further the ARK storyline.

They will also add exclusive biomes and an all-new mission-based game mechanic, which we will be finding out more about in the coming weeks.

“Discover and tame all-new creatures, including island-sized sea turtles, shape-shifting creatures that transform from small and cuddly to ferocious, and fireball shooting dragon-like beasts that thrive in extreme volcanic environments,” Studio Wildcard teased earlier this year.

“Test your survival skills in ARK: Genesis. With a holographic companion at your side, encounter new creatures, craft all new gear and structures, and face new environmental dangers.

“Whether you’re taming fire-breathing monsters or building your base atop an immense sea turtle, ARK: Genesis is a vast world of secrets to discover. “

It follows the news regarding new changes made to the Beginner servers released by Studio Wildcard last year.

According to a new post, these will now be regularly wiped as they are not designed for tribes to use as their main server.

“When beginner servers were introduced last year in May, we saw them as a way of introducing new players to the game while still providing some of the challenges they might run into playing on a more heavily populated server,” Wildcard adds.

“This also provided the ability to transfer to a more popular server at your freedom. Since early game in ARK is the most challenging, we saw this as a low-stress way of getting up to speed.

“We didn’t intend for these servers to be a long-term place to become established.

“Because of this, we’ll be implementing scheduled wipes and announcing the future dates in advance. Be sure to spread the word to any new survivors you run across.”
