Looks like Piers Morgan might have taught Ariana Grande a little love, patience (maybe some pain too) as the pair finally put an end to their feud.
The Thank You, Next hitmaker even has high hopes that she can make a ‘#FutureFeminist’ out of Piers after the pair put aside their differences at a restaurant.
Posting on his Twitter account, Piers thanked Grande for a ‘great night’ to which the singer replied: ‘thank u for some laughs and some v productive conversation ! it was nice bumping into u ! #FutureFeministPiers #FingersCrossed.’
Probably sensing the clear confusion in the air over the complete u-turn in the pair’s interaction with each other, Ariana went on to clarify what had sparked this new attitude.
‘Well………… we bumped into each other. at a restaurant. and i decided to sit with him and we spoke for a while.
‘I think some progress was made! turns out face to face discussions are a bit kinder and gentler, even if you do indeed disagree. :)’
Looks like those Thank You, Next lessons are coming in handy, Ariana.
The 25-year-old pop star and the 53-year-old journalist bumped heads late last year after Piers criticised British girl band Little Mix for posing naked.
Taking a jab at the band’s cover art for their single Strip, where the girls are dressed in nothing but negative body image labels, Piers made the retort: ‘Why don’t we stop pretending that getting your kit off is feminist empowerment?’
It didn’t take long before the debate reached the internet, with the GMB presenter accusing Little Mix of stealing the idea from American music group Dixie Chicks and also firing shots at TV host Ellen DeGeneres for celebrating images of half-naked men.
Coming to the defense of both the girl band and Ellen, Grande’s mother Joan tweeted Piers saying: ‘Honestly what is wrong with you @piersmorgan ? Didn’t your mother ever teach you, if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say it!
‘You came for @TheEllenShow yesterday which was disgraceful, she is an angel. @LittleMix today, did you ever hear of paying homage? And..well never mind.’
Not taking a bar of it, Piers responded to Joan standing firm on his original retort, but finished his tweet off with a direct hit at Ariana adding: ‘and as for Little Mix, I’d just prefer they use their talent to sell records rather than their nudity. As your own daughter does…!’
Ariana then clapped back about women being allowed to do what they want with their bodies, warning the TV journalist to enjoy what’s left of his career, which spurred a huge back and forth debate between the two on Twitter.
Most fans seemed to be here for the two finally making amends however, with one person commenting: ‘At least you guys were adult [about] it.’
