Ariana Grande has revealed the unlikely reason she was forced to postpone her Tampa and Orlando shows this week.

The popstar has discovered that she has developed a tomato allergy at the ripe age of 25 and it is just the ultimate blow.

(We needn’t point out that tomatoes are in an estimated 97.45% of all foods.)

Summing up the bad news, Ariana told fans: ‘There is… NOTHING MORE UNFAIR THAN AN ITALIAN WOMAN DEVELOPING AN ALLERGY TO TOMATOES IN HER MID TWENTIES…’

The pint-sized popstar returned to Instagram on Wednesday night to finally explain the mystery illness that forced her to cancel her shows on doctor’s orders.

She said: ‘Update: we discovered….. that ….. I had an unfortunate allergic reaction to tomatoes and my throat pretty much closed.

‘Still feels like I’m swallowing a cactus but slowly making progress! thank u all for your love and understanding.

‘Can’t wait to get back to performing and to make it up to Tampa and Orlando in November.’

On Tuesday, she said she was ‘beyond devastated’ to be calling off her next two Sweetener shows at the very last minute.

Fans may already know that Ariana is no stranger to allergies.

In 2011, Ariana similarly discovered that she was allergic to bananas and found the whole thing kind of, well bananas.

She tweeted: ‘I just discovered that I’m allergic to bananas. How bizarre is that?? Haha.. Are any of you allergic to bananas too? #NoBananaClub’

And, like a lot of people, the musician is not allowed to eat shellfish.

The pet lover also says she’s allergic to cats so basically all fun things are forbidden.
