Apprentice's Pamela felt 'ambushed' after being accused of copying product during tense interview

Pamela Laird just missed out on a place in The Apprentice final after Lord Sugar fired the beauty owner on Wednesday night’s episode.

After Lottie Lion and Lewis Ellis were sent packing, Pamela became the third casualty of the evening.

Speaking about her time on the show to Daily Star Online, the business owner admitted she felt “ambushed” during her interview with interior designer Linda Plant.

Discussing her business proposal, and how she would invest Lord Sugar’s £250,000, Pamela claimed she trail-blazed a product that had never seen on the beauty market before, however, Linda begged to differ.

Pamela admitted she felt ‘ambushed’ during her nail-biting interview with Linda Plant

During the interview, Linda pulled out a similar product and accused Pamela of copying a competitor, and blasted the “trailblazing” remark.

“It was extremely tough and I didn’t think for one second it would be an easy ride,” she said.

“I think because I had an established business with a lot of history, I knew there was more to pull apart from my point of view.

Linda accused the beauty owner of imitating a competitor’s product

“I was not ready for Linda to pull out a copycat product that I’ve never seen before. I felt ambushed.

“It’s one of these things.”

Explaining there was no similar item like it being stocked in Great Britain at the time, she said: “I launched the product into the UK in 2018 with Boots and Primark and none of my buyers had seen that before.

Pamela admitted she ‘wanted the ground to swallow her up’ following the tense altercation

“They’re not in my markets that I’ve been trading in.

“Obviously Linda being an accomplished businesswoman dug deep and found this from I don’t know where.

“I found it hard because Linda had what she wanted to say and it didn’t matter what I said – so I felt a bit defeated. You have to respect her. What can I say, I just wanted the ground to swallow me up.”

The Apprentice continues on BBC One at 9pm on Wednesdays
