Apprentice star Pamela Laird tested for coronavirus after feeling ‘very unwell’ for a week


THE Apprentice star Pamela Laird has revealed she’s getting tested for coronavirus today after feeling “very unwell” for a week.

The Irish businesswoman took to Twitter yesterday to say she was one of the lucky people to be booked in for one – as thousands across the world haven’t been able to be tested.

She told her followers: “Have been very unwell over the last week.  Hoping it’s not #Covid_19 but I am pleased to be having a test tomorrow to find out for sure.”

Pamela – who runs a cosmetic brand – rose to fame as she appeared on Lord Sugar’s show last year.

The Dubliner made it to the final three, before just missing out on the final to Scarlett Allen-Horton and Carina Lepore.

In England, the NHS only has a nasal swab test that can detect whether someone’s current illness is Covid-19 and not everyone is getting tested.

Ireland however has a different approach and is testing as many people as possible.

There are currently 683 cases of coronavirus in Ireland and there has been three fatalities.

In the UK the coronavirus death toll rose to 177 with 40 more deaths in 24 hours as the country went into lockdown.

More than 700 new cases were recorded in a day – hitting 3,983 up from 3,269 as pubs, restaurants and other venues were told to close from last night.
