Apple will launch the ‘thinnest ever’ iPad and Macbook Pro in 2020 with a ‘MiniLED’ display that has tiny pixels to make the screen smaller, analyst claims

Apple is to launch its thinnest ever iPad and Macbook Pro models next year – according to an industry analyst.
It seems the current iPad is just too bulky for some – at 0.29 inches thick (iPad 10.2″)- and a further reduction to its slimline frame is in the pipeline for 2020, reports suggest.
The prediction came from trusted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo this week after he claimed the firm planned to release six new super-slim products.
Between four and six devices with new mini-LED displays are said to be planned for the next three years, reports MacRumours.
Apple launched its all-new MacBook Pro last month. The device boasts a brilliant 16-inch Retina Display (OLED), the latest 8-core processors, 64GB of memory and a new advanced thermal design, ‘making it the most powerful MacBook Pro ever’
Currently Apple’s devices use the popular OLED display, however suggestions that designs are likely to be replaced with a lighter and more power efficient mini-LED have become rampant over the past year.
Mr Kuo predicts the next year’s releases will see an iPad Pro and a 16-inch MacBook Pro with the updated screens.
The devices are also likely to contain newer processors, said Mr Kuo.
Apple unveiled the iPhone 11 in September, showing off a handset with a 6.1-inch OLED display. Available in six colors: purple, white, yellow, green, black, and Product Red
Sources told DigiTimes that the MacBook will adopt mini LED backlighting for its release next year with a module supplied by Taiwan-based Zhen Ding Tech.
The technology is currently widely used in public signage but has yet to be used by consumer electronics.
Mr Kuo told MacRumours the screens will ‘significantly improve productivity and the entertainment experience’.
Apple currently uses 576 LEDs in Pro Display XDR, but Mr Kuo claims the new devices would hold 10,000, each LED smaller than 200 microns in size.
It is not known if an iPhone with a mini-LED screen is in the works, the latest iPhone 11 released in September featured the OLED screen.
Apple has not confirmed the rumours surrounding new devices with mini-LED.
