Apex Legends Holo-Day Bash live now; includes Christmas cosmetics

Apex Legends’ Christmas-themed event has begun today and is running until January, following its victory at The Game Awards 2019.

There was some heated competition last night at The Game Awards and while it’s unlikely that the results would’ve pleased everyone, developer Respawn must be thrilled after Apex Legends won Best Multiplayer Game.

This isn’t the only thing fans of the game can celebrate though, as Respawn also announced and released a Christmas event titled Mirage’s Holo-Day Bash, which is set to run until 7 January and is already kicking off with a Double XP weekend.

The big focus of the event is a new point-capture mode called Winter Express, which sees three teams of three fight over the Holiday Express train as it moves across a map.

Characters come with pre-built loadouts so there’s no customisation involved, but you can change characters mid-match. The first team to capture three points wins.

You will also be able to hang out on Mirage’s personal party boat, the Mirage Voyage, as part of the new Town Takeover, with the option to take to the dance floor or chill out in a hot tub.

Unsurprisingly, there will also be new Christmas-themed cosmetics to acquire for the duration of the event. There are apparently 24 premium cosmetics, which you can either purchase with Apex Coins and Crafting Metals or unlock via the Event Apex Packs. Anyone that manages to get all of them will unlock the Pathfinder Heirloom set too.

In addition, free cosmetics can be earned from the Event challenges, which includes two new Legendary weapon skins.

A full breakdown of the event can be found on EA’s official website.

Apex Legends is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
