Antonio Banderas reveals how heart attack propelled him to live a life without regret and open theater company in Spain

He suffered a heart attack following a workout in January 2017.

And now Antonio Banderas, 59, has revealed how the health scare inspired him to live a life without regrets.   

The star revealed to The Big Ticket podcast that the heart attack propelled him to open the Teatro del Soho CaixaBank, his theater company in his hometown of Malaga, Spain.

‘I came [to] the conclusion that I had to do the things that I want to do, that I don’t want to die thinking, “I should have done that or I should have said that,” he began. 

‘Money in the bank became kind of a very Machiavellian intellectual thing,’ he began. 

‘When you get close to death, only the essential things remain. Things that you thought at some point that were very important, they disappear.’

The star spoke of his hefty film resume, but said it was the theater that has his heart.  

‘Movies became an enormous accident in my career, an accident of over 112 movies, but the thing that I fell in love with in my profession is the theater, seeing actors on the stage, a group of people just telling stories to another group of people. I just love that ritual. 

‘There was something there, very specific, very beautiful that has to do with civilization, with the possibility of these people reflecting in front of others about ourselves. You can make them laugh, you can make them cry, you can go to many different places,’ he said of his love for theater.’

Antonio is currently dating Nicole Kimpel. 

The handsome movie star detailed how his girlfriend saved his life, in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel

‘My girlfriend, she had a headache and we didn’t have anything in the house. So she went out to buy something, a painkiller or whatever. She bought this aspirin, which is the only thing that she found and she found the maximum one, I think it was five milligrams.

‘The next morning, when I started having the symptoms and I clearly knew what was going on, she put one of those aspirins inside of my tongue and that saved my life. Yeah. So I had a second chance, and some stuff changed in my life, since then.’
