Antoine Griezmann claims playing alongside Lionel Messi will be a “huge pleasure” after completing his Barcelona transfer.
The French star has completed a long-awaited move from Atletico Madrid and broke his silence in an interview with Barca TV on Saturday night.
The World Cup winner spoke of his excitement at linking up with the Nou Camp club ahead of his official unveiling on Sunday.
He explained to fans exactly what they can expect and named the two close friends in the dressing room he can’t wait to play with.
But he also declared his delight to be lining up alongside arguably the greatest player of all-time in a feared attack.
“I am excited about seeing him,” Griezmann declared when asked about Messi (via Sport ).
“Playing alongside Lionel Messi will be a huge pleasure.”
Speaking about his move, Griezmann said: “I will try to do the best possible in this new stage of my career, I want to do big things because the club’s objectives are the same as mine. I hope I can achieve them here.”
“I was really looking forward to coming here. I am really happy, really hungry [to do well].
“I am a player that enjoys himself on the pitch and also in the dressing room. I hope I can bring a lot of joy to my new teammates and to the fans.”
Speaking about his existing relationships with some of his new team-mates, he added: “I’m really excited to see Ousmane [Dembele] and Sam [Umtiti], I have a great relationship with them, I hope to have a lot of success with them both.”
His move is still developing into a saga that could rumble on, however, with Atletico Madrid unhappy about Barcelona’s approach and claiming they need to pay the buy-out clause of £179m in his contract when they started negotiating.
