Antiques Roadshow's Fiona Bruce gasps at value of Sean Connery James Bond jacket

Fiona Bruce was dumbfounded by the price of a jacket once worn by James Bond star Sean Connery in the 1971 James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever.

In a recent episode of Antiques Roadshow, Fiona takes a trip down to Pinewood Studios where there is a treasure trove of James Bond memorabilia worth tens of thousands of pounds.

She is shown a jacket worn by the first James Bond actor, who died last year, which is worth an eye-popping figure due to a number of “tells” that authenticate it was worn by the film star.

Expert Stephen Lane explained: “We’ve managed to match the weave on the lapel, so the very distinctive weave of the cloth there.

“In addition to that is the cuff, so the spacing of the buttons on the cuff.”

He added: “If you open the jacket up, on the inside it has a very distinctive lining.

“It’s stitched in, in a specific manner and we’ve managed to match that up on-screen as well.”

Admiring the jacket lining, Fiona says: “Gosh that’s real anorak territory, isn’t it?

“When you start matching the weave and things like that.”

The expert says the extreme “attention to detail” has resulted in the jacket being appraised at the tidy sum of £25,000.

Fiona gasps in shock, saying: “Wow.”

Sean Connery died in the Bahamas at the age of 90 in October last year, with his son Jason saying he passed away “peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family”.

He revealed the Scottish actor had been “unwell for some time”.

Paying tribute to the late star, current 007 Daniel Craig said: “He defined an era and a style.

“The wit and charm he portrayed on screen could be measured in megawatts.

“He helped create the modern blockbuster.”

This comes after an Antiques Roadshow guest was left shocked when they were told the value of their old gun was worth as much as a house.
