Antiques Roadshow: Expert gobsmacked as Victorian jewellery fetches huge price


“It’s surrounded by cushion shaped diamonds. It’s in silver and gold and it didn’t start off like this. It was actually a pair of ear rings,” Joanna enlightened the guest with some interesting facts. 

“It’s is stunning and it is beautiful” she said of the sapphire. 

Talking about at the necklace, Joanna revealed that her eyes glanced over to the ring as she excitedly added: “When I opened the box my heart jumped.” 

This was because it was by John Donald as mentioned inside the writing in the box. 

“He was such an important person in the sixties. After the second World War, jewellery design was pretty grim,” Joanna commented.
